Avaya SBCE SIPREC recording

MiaRec Avaya Technology Partner

MiaRec Avaya Interop Tested

MiaRec effectively provides a SIP Trunk-Side audio recording solution which leverages the SIPREC capabilities of Avaya Session Border Controller for Enterprise (SBCE).

SIPREC-based recording method provides a scalable audio recording solution for enterprises requiring conversations with external patries be recorded for compliance or training purposes. Unlike other recording solutions, the integration with the Avaya SBCE enables capture of audio calls at the network ingress/egress point when SIP trunk facilities are used. This approach has the advantage of being less taxing on communication system resources.

How it works

MiaRec supports SIPREC-based recording in multiple configurations including Avaya Aura Communication Manager as well as Avaya IP Office platform.

MiaRec recording server is configured as a Session Recording Server (SRS) at Avaya Session Border Controller for Enterprise (SBCE). When call passes trough SBCE to SIP trunk, the call metadata and media are forked to recording server via SIPREC protocol. MiaRec decodes the data and archives on local storage.

The following diagrams describe network architecture for SIPREC-based recording on two platforms:

  • Avaya Aura Communication Manager + Avaya SBCE v.7.1 or newer
  • Avaya IP Office + Avaya SBCE v.7.1 or newer

  • Avaya SBCE + Avaya Aura CM
  • Avaya SBCE + Avaya IP Office

Benefits

  • Software-only solution - does not require telephony boards or any wiring beyond a typical network infrastructure

  • Seamless integration - does not use any resources on Avaya Communication Manager or Media Gateway

  • Fully automatic call recording with optional support of on-demand recording

Requirements

  • Avaya SBCE v.7.1 or newer (older versions do not support SIPREC or have limited support)
  • Every recorded call additionally requires one standard and one advanced license on Avaya SBCE
