Metaswitch call recording

MiaRec Service Provide Edition is a multi-tenant call recording solution for service providers, using Metaswitch platform to offer hosted telephony services. MiaRec allows service providers to quickly deploy and offer profitable mission-critical call recording functionality as a part of their service offerings.

MiaRec integrates with Metaswitch, allowing to record up to 1,000 concurrent calls per server and providing multiple recording options, i.e. 100% call recording, on-demand and selective call recording modes. The MiaRec software includes full set of service provider management functions allowing user auto-provisioning and single sign-on for seamless user experience. The MiaRec solutions also include a wide range of advanced features, enabling service providers to offer advanced contact center functionality such as Agent Evaluation, Live Monitoring, Screen Capture and Call Analytics.

Service Providers using Metaswitch platform benefit from fully a functional, reliable and advanced call recording solution at a competitive price point and a low total cost of ownership.

Hosted SIPREC recording

In a hosted environment MiaRec recording server is located inside Service Provider's datacenter. Customers get access to own call recordings remotely via web-browser. Customer's data is isolated from each other.

How it works

SIPREC interface should be enabled on Metaswitch side. SIPREC is supported in Metaswitch starting from version 9.0.10.

Metaswitch system uses the established SIPREC link to send call details (caller/called phone number, service provider id etc) and audio RTP stream to MiaRec recording server.

Advantages of SIPREC recording interface:

  • It is more scalable than port mirroring recording. It support load balancing and high-availability setups with automatic failover.
  • It is easier to manage. Administrators can easily enable/disable recording on per-user basis through Metaswitch administration web portal.
  • It supports distributed deployment scenarios. The recording server may be located in another network or even another data center.
  • It provides more call metadata for each call recording, like Metaswitch System and Business Group names.

Hosted passive recording

In a hosted environment MiaRec recording server is located inside Service Provider's datacenter. Customers get access to own call recordings remotely via web-browser. Customer's data is isolated from each other.

How it works

A network switch with port mirroring support should be deployed between Metaswitch and customers' phones. The network switch will send copy of every VoIP packet to MiaRec server for recording purposes.

On-premise recording

Due to security policies, some customers, like governmental, require that recorded calls are stored locally only. They cannot use a hosted call recording service. On-premise deployment is the only option for such customers.
