Duxoft's MiaRec couldn't be better suited to my needs.
I'm the senior program developer for the AOPA Air Safety Foundation, in Frederick, Maryland. My colleagues and I build aviation safety education programs for all general aviation pilots.
We often conduct interviews with pilots who have faced challenging circumstances, and survived. These interviews are almost always done over the telephone, then edited and integrated with various safety courses. One particularly popular series we do consists of short pilot interviews with safety messages, called Real Pilot Stories.
Until I stumbled across MiaRec, I'd been limping along with various kludgy arrangements for capturing the conversations. The editing of the resulting interviews was a pain, too, in part because of the difficulty of separating my questions from the answers of the interviewee. MiaRec changed all that.
When I first installed MiaRec, I was delighted with how easy it made the interview capturing process. I use it with a Vonage softphone, and appreciate the "Start-Stop" simplicity of the interface while I'm busy trying to get a good interview. When I first played back a MiaRec recording and discovered that it cleanly separates the audio from each speaker with two separate tracks, I was ecstatic. It just couldn't get any better.
I can recommend MiaRec for anyone who needs to capture VOIP communications. It's one of the best-designed pieces of software I've seen in a long, long time.
