Recommended Hardware Specification

Hardware specification depends on how many concurrent calls you need to record at the same time.

Below you will find the recommendations for different number of recorded calls.

Recording 5-10 concurrent calls

  • CPU:Intel Pentium IV or better. Frequency at least 1.6GHz.
  • RAM: 1-2 GB
  • HDD: It requires 14.4 MB disk space per hour of recorded conversation on stereo MP3 format or 7.2 MB in mono format.
  • Network Interface Card (NIC): One NIC is enough. If MiaRec is installed on the same server, where DHCP and DNS services are running, then the second NIC is required. One NIC will be used for packet sniffing (recording) and another will be used for general access of the server.
  • OS: Windows XP Pro, Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008

Recording 10-50 concurrent calls

  • CPU:Intel Pentium IV D (dual core) or Core 2 Duo. Frequency at least 2.6GHz.
  • RAM: 2-4 GB
  • HDD: It requires 14.4 MB disk space per hour of recorded conversation on stereo MP3 format or 7.2 MB in mono format.
  • Network Interface Card (NIC): One NIC is enough. If MiaRec is installed on the same server, where DHCP and DNS services are running, then the second NIC is required. One NIC will be used for packet sniffing (recording) and another will be used for general access of the server.
  • OS: Windows XP Pro, Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008

Recording 50-100 concurrent calls

  • CPU: Single processor Intel Core 2 Quad or Quad-core XEON or two processors Double-core XEON. Frequency at least 1.8GHz.
  • RAM: 4-8 GB
  • HDD: At least two high speed disks (10,000 or 15,000 rpms). One disk will hold operating system and MiaRec binaries. Other disk(s) will hold recorded audio files (MP3). It requires 14.4 MB disk space per hour of recorded conversation on stereo MP3 format or 7.2 MB in mono format.
  • Network Interface Card (NIC): Two NICs. One will be used for packet sniffing (recording) and another will be used for general access of the server.
  • OS: Windows Server 2003/2008 32-bit

Recording 100-200 concurrent calls

  • CPU: Two processors Intel Xeon Quad-Core. Frequency at least 1.8GHz.
  • RAM: 4-8 GB
  • HDD: At least two high speed disks (15,000 rpms).
  • OS: Windows Server 2003/2008 64-bit

Recording 200-400 concurrent calls

  • CPU: Two processors Intel Xeon Quad-Core. Frequency at least 3.0GHz
  • RAM: 8-16 GB
  • HDD: At least two high speed disks (15,000 rpms).
  • OS: Windows Server 2003/2008 64-bit
